Breastique Art FAQs
What actually happens at a Breastique Art Workshop?
The typical sequence of a Breastique Art Workshop is outlined below:
- Your Breastique Art Tutor will arrive one hour prior to the start of the Workshop to set up all the easels, paints, canvases…etc.
- Guests arrive and enjoy a nibble, a drink, and a chat with each other. Tutor collects workshop payment from the Host.
- 20-30 minutes in, the Breastique Art Tutor will gather everyone together and tell them about the workshop experience including the fun techniques to use (i.e., the Shimmy, the Sploge, the Quick Press, the Slide…etc).
- Guests paint the background of their canvases with brushes, sponges…etc by hand.
- Guests then remove their tops; rub some fabulous Franc Essential Body Melt into their breasts and torso, to act as a barrier cream to the paint. Pop some paint on your breasts and have a trial run of pressing your breast against a ‘practice canvas’ so that you can see what it looks like.
- Put more paint on your breasts AND OFF YOU GO! Start creating your very own Breastique Art!
- To ensure your ‘work of art’ is authentic, be sure to put a signature on it when it has dried. You may prefer to use your initials or a nickname.
- When you’ve completed all the painting you wish to do for the occasion, put some Franc Essential Exfoliate on your creative breasts and gently remove the paint, then refresh the area with more lashings of Franc Essential Body Melt. Heavenly!
- Following this lovely ‘clean up’ ritual, enjoy a cuppa or a glass of champagne to celebrate your artistic abilities while quietly reflecting on the experience by filling in a Breastique Art Artist Profile Page.
- This form asks you to write a title of your art work; describe the meaning behind the piece, and how you felt about the whole Breastique Art Experience. There is also a section for you to record a cheeky ‘breast’ saying (i.e., Breast Wishes to You!), and an inspiring quote. The last section of the Profile Page requests a signed declaration indicating the donation of your painting to Breastique Art. (See the final page of this document for a copy of the Breastique Art Artist Profile Page.)
- Guests collect their Goody Bag and head off home, exhilarated and inspired.
- Host and Breastique Art Tutor pack up and talk about what an amazing experience it was. Perhaps time for one more cuppa, then we call it a day.
- We highly recommend that you wear older clothes that you don’t mind getting paint on. There will be small towels available to tuck into and overlay your pants if you wish. (Have a look at some of the Workshop Photos to see how the blue towels are used for this.) Some women have brought an old skirt and shirt to wear during the workshop and then have changed into something snazzier at the end.
- A positive, open minded attitude and your payment for the workshop.
- You might also choose to bring your own towel and face washer to use during ‘clean up’ after painting, however, please note that towels and face washers are provided for participants to use. You might even arrange with your Host prior to event to bring along a tantalizing beverage to share or a plate of treats to nourish fellow artists with.
- You don’t have to if you’d prefer not to, but please remember you have outlaid money for the experience. Your payment however, will be a tremendous donation for raising breast cancer awareness in WA. Some women who have attended Breastique Art Workshops and chosen not to do any painting have still been instrumental in helping ‘hold and push’ canvases for fellow artists. Your support and encouragement is still highly valuable even if you decline to produce any art during the workshop.
- This is totally okay. Some women have simply kept their bras on (mind you they tend to use an old bra that they’ll throw out afterward), and ‘paint up’ their bra and press it upon the canvas in this fashion. IT STILL LOOKS FANTASTIC!
- Acrylic paint is used because it’s quick drying. We’re currently looking into the availability of natural based paints to use. However, be assured that your skin is both nourished and protected by using Franc Essential Body Melt as a barrier cream prior to painting. We also recommend that you put more Body Melt on after you have washed all the paint off your torso to provide further nourishment. France Essential products are made of natural ingredients that will nurture and pamper your skin. You’ll smell and feel divine!
- Photos are taken of the art only, not the participants. The photos of artists on the Breastique Art website were taken at workshops in which ‘Pioneer Artists’ (i.e., inaugural Breastique Artists) agreed to have their photo taken and provided signed written permission to allow images of their art and themselves to be displayed on the Web. We are grateful that they have, so that you can see exactly what the Breastique Art experience is like!
- No. This is an enriching, creative, experience to enjoy in the supportive and encouraging company of fellow women.
- Please pass on your cash payment to your Host upon arrival of the workshop. The Breastique Art Tutor will collect the payment from them at a convenient time prior to commencement of painting.
- We aim to upload photos of art work donated within two weeks of the workshop date. We’d like to send you a personal email to inform you that your painting can now be seen on the On-line Gallery; then you can tell all your friends to have a look at it!
- The painting that you donate is a contribution to the Breastique Art Exhibition Online Gallery, and it may also be selected for display and sale at the Breastique Art Exhibition held during Breast Cancer Awareness month each October. Proceeds from the art sold via these two sources is used to support Breast Cancer Foundation WA.
